Me too!! I had finally given up. I was just so tired of trying and failing.
I COULD lose weight... I just couldn't keep it off! I would lose some
weight and think I could continue to lose but then I'd slowly start gaining
back... and the slow trickle would turn into Niagara Falls and it would all
come back and then more. Then one day while surfing the web I came across
Obesityhelp.com and started reading. And I read and read and read.... I
couldn't get enough! I didn't know that real everyday people could get
weight loss surgery but they did and the success pictures were incredible.

Fairly soon I came across individual doctors' information and started
reading them. Never did I see a negative comment about Dr. Husted and his
practice. I did enough research to know that I wanted the DS. Also fairly
soon I realized that my insurance wouldn't pay for surgery so I started
reading about alternatives and was strongly considering Dr. Baltasar in
Spain due to the cost differences. Then God stepped in through my parents
and they offered to pay for my surgery and didn't like the idea of me having
to go to another country for the surgery.

So it was off to Dr. Husted's seminar and first appointment. Well... not
quite that quickly... the wait for the appointment seemed sooooo long!!
About this time Dr. Anderson joined the practice and I read and heard
wonderful things about him too. Due to trying to schedule my surgery as
soon as I could and before my parents left for Florida for the winter I
decided to have Dr. Anderson do my surgery. Jamie said that Dr. Anderson
had not officially "moved in" yet but she called him and told him that I was
going to have him do my surgery and he left his other office and came over
to meet me and talk to me right then!! I thought that was really reassuring
and I felt immediately comfortable with the idea of him doing the surgery.

Then the second wait... sometimes those days seemed to last forever!! I was
not spreading the news about my surgery to many people. I had done my
research and knew I was comfortable with the risks but didn't really want to
hear other people's scare stories about someone who knew someone who....
About two weeks before the surgery I finally did relent and tell my son and
his family and my brother and his family.

My surgery was on September 20, 2002 and I guess those first few days were
not too pleasant... but it's amazing how 108 pounds (as of 7.5 months out)
will erase many things. I have left the ranks of super morbidly obese all
the way down to now I'm just obese!! My knees thank me every day, my
diabetes is gone, my high blood pressure is gone, my cholesterol is all of
92!! and my labs were really good! I was never nauseous, I've had minimal
bathroom/gas issues and people tell me I seem so much happier. Well who
wouldn't be??!!

No reservations....this is exactly what I should have done and Dr. Anderson
is my hero!!
