I, like most of you, have struggled with my weight for years. I was on every diet known to man. I even had staples put in my ears at age 11. They were considered acupressure points and anytime I got hungry I pushed on them. Did they work? NOT.

I also spent my growing up years being made fun of but I was determined to be accepted like I was and did a good job at it. I went to both my junior and senior proms and went in my senior year with the most popular boy in the junior class.

But time and age began to wear on my body and I first started looking into Gastric By-Pass Surgery three years ago. I did so because my brother had to go on dialysis and they would not let me give him a kidney because of my size and diabetes.

After three years of on again, off again research and the loss of a good friend who died while waiting to have gastric by pass surgery I decided it was time to do something. I had gained another 107 pounds putting me at a whopping 432 pounds at 5'2". I had all the usual co-morbities: diabetes, high blood pressure, depression.

So I made an appointment and waited for approval. Well, I got the approval for the doctor but not the hospital. Thank God I didn't because it forced me to search for another doctor. That's when God led me to Dr. Husted.

Dr. Husted, Jamie and his whole staff helped me change my life. These people really do care about each and every patient that they treat. They really are doing God's work and touching lives and helping us help ourselves. Thank-you just doesn't seem enough.

October 2004 UPDATE: I would also like to give many thanks to Dr. Donald Griffin for helping to change my body shape by his great skill with the knife. He has preformed one surgery on me to reduce the size on my hanging abdomen and I look forward to the day he does my body lift. I trust him with my life as I do Dr. Husted. And just like Jamie and Jennifer are the perfect nurse for the Husted and Spaw Linda is Dr. Griffin's nurse and she is the Bomb.
