I hardly know where to begin; Dr. Husted and staff have saved my life in more ways than one.

I never had any trouble fitting in and making friends when I was young, as I weighed only 99 pounds when I was 18. I got married when I was 19 and had my first child when I was just a few weeks shy of 20. I also had my first weight gain but did not think too much of it. I was soon ready to have my second child, but did not gain much weight. Soon I was helping run our business and taking care of a family and never thought much about my weight, it did not seem to hinder my life much, and I made friends and loved my life. We were in the photography business and in a few years I became only the second woman in the history of the Tennessee Professional Photographers Association to become President and life was great.

Soon after that my husband became interested in computers and before I knew what happened, we were in a completely new business. It was somewhat stressful for me and I had to travel a lot to do the training of office staff in Medical and Dental offices. My weight zoomed on up and I tried everything I knew to lose. I would lose 50, 60 or more pounds and then gain it all back plus 10 or 15 pounds. Weight soon started to tell on my health. I was diagnosed with diabetes, had a knee replacement, high blood pressure, you name it I had it. Then one day I could hardly walk from the car to the house, about 10 feet. This became worse each day. I tried to lose weight and never had any success. I talked with an employee of my PCP and she told me she and her husband had WLS and Dr. Husted did it. I got on the computer and low and behold there he was!!!! Dr. John Husted. My PCP had his insurance person (Kathy, my angel) to start the process with insurance and I won't bore you with that routine, we all know the drill. Kathy never let me get discouraged or even to begin to think of giving up!!!

I did not see Dr. Husted until I was finally approved, then saw him on August 21, 2003 and September 12, 2003 had my DS!!! Life was grand again, thanks to Dr. Husted!!!

Then one morning very early, I was devastated, I found a lump in my right breast, a very large lump. From there I found out just how much Dr. Husted had really SAVED my life. I had Breast Cancer and it had not shown up in regular mammograms because I had weighed too much!!! Now I am on my way to being cancer free and healthy. I have lost 120 pounds and feel like a MILLION BUCKS!

Update September, 2004 - I have now lost 163 pounds and for the first time in 40 years weigh less than 150, I weigh 149!!!!!

Update August, 2005 - I have now lost 200 pounds and weigh 112 pounds! I am still under the doctors care for the cancer, but life is just about as good as it gets! I am looking FORWARD, I will not be caught up in the BACKWARD GLANCE! Remember life happens in the front of the TRAIN not looking out the back of the caboose. Someone much wiser than I said; "The enjoyment of living is not where we have been, It is looking forward to another year and ten. It is searching all the byways, never should you refrain, for if you want to live your life you gotta drive the train"!

So take the tool you have been given and make the best of it, that is the best Praise and thanksgiving for the blessing God has given you! It is also the biggest and best "Thank You" we can give Dr. Husted and his staff. God Bless all of you!
