Well I don't know where to begin really. I guess my journey started when I ran
into some girls I went to high school with. They asked me "Aww when are you
due?" And I am not pregnant. After getting over the sudden urge to beat them
with my purse I took a long look at myself in the mirror. I
had not always been overweight. I started to pack it on when I started college.
(I was also diagnosed with depression that year.) Instead of the "freshman
15" I put on the "freshman 50". Every year it seems I added another
50 pounds. Every time I lost weight, I put more back on plus some. I was miserable.
I was drinking 12 sodas a day, eating out at fast food restaurants every day,
smoking at least 2 packs a day; basically, I was doing everything unhealthy possible.
I was dying inside, literally. If I didn't do something, and soon, I knew I was
going to end up with blood pressure problems and diabetes, since both run in my
family. I started doing some research on the net,
and stumbled across gastric bypass. I found a surgeon in Georgia and discussed
having the lap band with my husband. That night, a 20/20 program aired discussing
the pros and cons of the lap band and my husband said "That doesn't have
a very high success rate, what about the surgery that Wilson chic had?" I
researched some more and stumbled across Dr. Husted's site. I immediately informed
my family I WAS having this done and no one would change my mind. I contacted
my insurance company and attended a seminar and stopped smoking that day cold
turkey. Dr. Husted and his staff are total lifesavers.
I was so worried as the surgery date approached because I had never had surgery,
not even a tooth filling! Dr. Husted and Baptist Hospital totally eased all my
fears. I am so excited to have my life back. I do
not regret anything, and I am more and more glad every day that God led me to
Dr. Husted. |
