I knew that Dr. Husted was an experienced bariatric surgeon and a member of the American Society for Bariatric Surgery, which is vitally important when choosing your surgeon. When I attended his seminar, it was obvious that he loves his work. I was impressed with the amount of time he took to describe the procedures and to answer questions. At my consultation, he made my husband and I feel comfortable and answered all of our questions. He was relaxed and didn't make us feel like we needed to rush.

Dr. Husted is kind, down to earth, and it is a pleasure to spend time with him. He has a good sense of humor, but is serious when it comes to taking care of his patients. He will not take unnecessary risks. He is available whenever you need him. I cannot say enough good things about him. He's the BEST!

My story is probably no different from most morbidly obese people. I have tried everything to lose weight. I went on my first diet when I was eleven years old. I look back at old pictures and realize that I was not as fat as I thought, but I did manage to diet my way up to morbid obesity. When I was younger, my main objective was to look good. That changed as I began to develop bad health as a result of the weight. Of course, I am excited about looking better but the thrill for me now is regaining my health!

I had my DS on October 14, 2002. I left the hospital cured of my TypeII Diabetes and lost three of my five High Blood Pressure medications. That will probably change as I lose more weight. At my 2-week check up I had lost 19 pounds.

April, 2003 - My sleep apnea is gone! history! Good bye, CPAP machine!

October 14, 2003 - It has been quite a year! I am 10 pounds away from my personal goal of 160 pounds! UNBELIEVABLE! My BMI has gone from 46.3 Morbidly Obese to 27.4 which is 2 points from Ideal. My health has dramatically improved. I have started to work again, in a job that I love, thanks to my surgery! I'm loving life!

April 22, 2004 - I have begun my plastic surgery journey! I had my tummy tuck/hernia repair on March 30 and am recovering amazingly well. 4 pounds of tissue was removed, but the change is remarkable, looks like I lost at least 20 pounds. I plan to go to Brazil on June 8 for the rest of my plastic surgery... stay tuned for the rest of the story!

August 6, 2004 - I have just returned from Brazil and have completed my plastic surgery! I had lower face lift, breast lift with implants, back resection, arms, thighs, and inverted butt lift. January, 2007 - Went back to Dr. Fabio in Brazil in June 2006 for some plastic surgery "tweaks", I am very happy with my results. Dr. Fabio asked me to help other patients make their plans to come to him for surgery... we are pleased to announce our new business TLC Medical Travel Services. For many years I have enjoyed sharing my experiences with the DS and plastic surgery... God has blessed me to work with both of my surgeons... as Dr. Husted's Patient Advocate and now a new partnership with Dr. Fabio! Who would have ever thought that being morbidly obese would give my life this path??? I have met so many wonderful people and have enjoyed so many opportunities that I would have never dreamed possible. God is good - all of the time! :-)

January, 2008 - due to my schedule, I have resigned my position with Dr. Husted but will be forever grateful to him for leading me to the DS and giving me the opportunity to serve and support my peers, the morbidly obese and former morbidly obese. I have been very blessed and continue to enjoy helping patients as they make their journey!
